The government will conduct the first ever national Agricultural Census. The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a special draft law, which tasks the Institute of Statistics with conducting the Agricultural Census.
According to the draft, the government will make 9 million euros available for collecting data on the agricultural and livestock sectors.
"The total cost for the Agricultural Census that needs to be covered by the state budget is 890.9 million lek," the draft report states. But what data will the Agricultural Census collect?
According to the draft, it will record everything related to the country's agricultural economy, from the area of crops planted to the number of livestock.
The main categories of data collected during the census are:
a) general characteristics of agricultural economic units
b) detailed data on land, the area of agricultural crops (arable crops, fruit trees), forests and pastures, owned by the KAU;
c) detailed data on the number of heads, according to the main livestock categories, including beekeeping;
d) other data on crop production methods, as well as data on the employment characteristics of members of the agricultural economic unit and persons who are not members of these units, but are engaged in this unit.
The Census Day will be determined by INSTAT. The period of field data collection is determined in the annual plan for the implementation of the Official Statistics Program, according to the provisions of the legislation in force for official statistics.
