As announced by Kapital two days ago, the Saranda Municipal Council approved this Wednesday the leasing of 60 hectares of land in Heremec, in the Nivica area, for the construction of a photovoltaic park.

The company that has received permission to build the photovoltaic park is "Park Sol Energy", created in September 2022 and owned by businessmen Paqsor Buzi and Agim Xhindoli, with 50% of the shares each.

Tensions and clashes only occurred outside the building, as in the hall, the left and right-wing councilors all came together and unanimously voted to grant the land to Paqsor Buzi and Agim Xhindoli.

Meanwhile, residents affected by the project were not allowed to attend the meeting and clashed with the Police, who had surrounded the Saranda Municipality building. The residents claim that the land is their property and that the case is in court.

"We are in court with the municipality and today's decision is a test," they told the media.

Residents have described the decision as a unilateral act that violates property rights and paves the way for a potential social clash.

"We will not allow the project to develop," they said in outrage.

At the end of the meeting, the councilors were forced to exit through the back door to avoid contact with the community.

Agim Xhindoli, one of the owners of the company that obtained the permit, is a former democrat who "crossed the rainbow" and sat in Edi Rama's lap.

Meanwhile, the other owner of the company, Paqsor Buzi, is one of the biggest "sharks" of the budget and public tenders through his company, GPG.

In the last 5 years, this company has received more than 150 million euros in payments from the state treasury for contracts from the Development Fund, the Albanian Regional Agency for Rural Development and several municipalities in the country.
