The National Commercial Bank has officially confirmed the news published by Kapitali about the cloning of citizens' cards and their emptying through purchases and withdrawals mainly outside Albania. Through an official announcement, BKT stated that it concerns a small number of cards and guaranteed citizens that they will be fully compensated for the money that was stolen from them.
"We would like to inform you that BKT has identified and dealt with an isolated case of fraud through ATM card cloning in a timely manner. The case affects a very small number of cards, which have been blocked immediately. All affected customers have been contacted and will be fully reimbursed," BKT announced.
According to the largest bank in the country, the security of citizens' money remains a non-negotiable priority.
"The security of customer funds and data remains an absolute priority for BKT, and the Bank continues to invest in advanced monitoring and prevention systems to guarantee the highest security standards," BKT concludes its announcement.
A day ago, Kapitali published news about the cloning of cards at BKT and the theft of citizens' funds through operations in various countries such as Bulgaria or Italy. Kapitali identified a case of theft of up to 5 thousand euros.
