After the Constitutional Court suspended the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku from office, SPAK has increased the dose of accusations against the government's number 2 by taking her under investigation for all tenders for the Tirana Ring Road that were developed under her authority.
"Also, citizen Belinda Balluku has been placed under investigation on suspicion of committing the same criminal offense for seven other procurement procedures with the following objects:
"Completion, reconciliation and continuation of the works Sheshi Shqiponja-River of Tirana, Lot 1 and QMT"; "Construction of the road segment Sheshi Shqiponja-Bulevardi i Ri, Lot 2"; "Construction of the road segment Sheshi Shqiponja-Bulevardi i Ri-Shkozë, Bridges over the river Tirana"; "Construction of the Outer Ring Road of Tirana, Lot 4"; "Construction of the Outer Ring Road of Tirana, Lot 5"; "Construction of the Outer Ring Road of Tirana, Lot 6"; "Construction of the Outer Ring Road of Tirana, Lot 7," SPAK announced in the request for the lifting of immunity.
The seven lots of the Ring Road were 8.5 kilometers long and were tendered for a total cost of 170 million euros. Now SPAK is accusing Balluku of fixing tenders worth 170 million euros, which warns of difficult times ahead for Ms. Balluku.
Most likely, along the way SPAK will add other charges against Balluku, who has managed the majority of public funds in Albania since 2019.
