VIA's reaction
The concessionaire company "Vlora International Airport - VIA" sh.pk clarifies public opinion, institutions and the media regarding the situation created today at the entrance to the Vlora International Airport construction site, emphasizing that this is a clear contractual issue with the company MABCO Constructions SA and not a political, media conflict or an "airport blockade", as has been attempted to be presented publicly.
The problem is related to significant delays in the implementation of the works, non-fulfillment of contractual obligations and violations of the deadlines set by the contract. Only until 08.04.2026, 429 days of delay and damages calculated at 4,290,000 euros have been recorded, an amount that continues to accumulate until the provisional acceptance of the works.
VIA explains that site entry procedures are standard security procedures and apply to everyone without exception. They are intended to protect the site, ensure the safety of personnel, control entry and exit, and prevent the entry of unauthorized persons. No entity may enter the site without respecting the relevant authorizations and procedures.
The concessionaire emphasizes that the Vlora International Airport is a strategic national project and cannot be held hostage by delays, public pressure or tactics that shift the debate from contractual documentation to the tension at the entrance to the construction site. VIA declares that it remains fully committed to continuing the works, protecting the public interest, respecting technical standards and completing the project according to contractual and institutional obligations.
Finally, VIA calls on MABCO to handle any claims only through legal and contractual channels, avoiding any attempt to escalate the situation at the entrance to the construction site or use employees and subcontractors for public pressure.
