The National Inspectorate of Territory confirmed that two buildings in the city that Mohamed Alabbar is building in the Port of Durrës have sunk by up to 30 centimeters, confirming the investigation of the show Piranja on Syri TV.
Through an official statement to the media, IKMT said that the special inspection group set up to verify the situation on the ground has found that two objects have suffered subsidence.
"At the conclusion of the inspection, the topographic report of the Construction Institute confirms that: Building 02, with construction phases 1, 6, 7 and 8 floors above ground and 1 floor underground, has suffered a decrease of 28 cm; Building 04, with construction phases 1, 6, 7, 8 and 10 floors above ground and 1 floor underground, has suffered a decrease of 18 cm," states IKMT.
Following these findings, the Inspectorate says it has requested corrective measures.

"Based on these findings, IKMT has officially addressed the project implementing company, requesting immediate measures to implement the necessary technical reinforcements, which guarantee the stability of the structures," the IKMT statement continues.
According to the Inspectorate, the reinforcement project, before implementation, must receive approval from the legal authorities responsible for ensuring compliance with the technical conditions for planning and implementing construction works.
Cost reduction, but risk
After concluding the controversial agreement with the Albanian government, Eagle Hills contracted a number of Albanian companies to build the towers envisaged in the project. But the prices offered by the Arab businessman were so low that he did not accept any Albanian subcontractors.
The company later contracted builders from Turkey. Although prices remain confidential as part of a private-party relationship, suspicions are that low costs appear to have weighed on the quality of construction, resulting in the buildings sinking.
It took the investigative show on Syri for state authorities to admit the scandal with the famous strategic project, which would change the face of Albanian tourism. If the sinking of the objects had not been reported in the media, perhaps Albanians would never have found out and the institutions would never have acted in the face of a situation that endangers the lives of those who have bought expensive apartments in the Durrës Marina.
