The benefits of private health insurance are great, and this is also evidenced by the claims paid by SIGAL to the AFSA, as a supervisory and regulatory entity, as well as by the thousands of citizens who have been beneficiaries.
I have chosen to respond myself to some voices, very few in fact, that demand great benefits with a very small premium, especially in travel health insurance.
You cannot request heart, head or stomach surgeries in European hospitals when you have paid 4, 5 or 9 euros. These are minimum premiums, which are only used for emergency cases. What is considered an emergency and what such insurance covers is very clear.
Today we offer Gold, Silver and Standard health insurance, with over 100 thousand insured in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. These insurances can also be purchased online by anyone.
4 euros cannot cover a planned surgery or a known illness, especially when it is not declared in the questionnaire, but is later recorded by the doctor and, from the information we receive from hospitals, is either planned or scheduled.
On the other hand, we have hundreds of people who have taken out anti-cancer insurance, at a cost of 250–300 euros per year. It is not just the case of a bank employee who has benefited from over 120 thousand euros; there are many others, to whom I wish good health.
These anti-cancer insurance policies are in collaboration with one of the largest reinsurance companies in the world, Swiss Re.
I have decided to communicate openly, unlike some other private company executives, because in 30 years of business I have never disappointed anyone, and I will not do so now. Unfortunately, abusers and fraudsters in insurance are numerous and are often the ones who speak the most, defending unfair claims.
There is also a study by Lloyd's, according to which those who attempt or unfairly benefit from insurance, in 90% of cases face difficult events within 3 years.
We are among the poorest countries in the world in terms of financial protection, only 90–100 euros per year per capita. Meanwhile, in Slovenia this figure reaches around 1,300 euros, while in European Union countries it is over 3,000 euros.
Freedom, independence, and economic dignity come when we take care of ourselves:
• with insured health,
• with insured home,
• with insured liability,
• with insured life,
• with a private pension.
Of course we are financially independent. Only then are we truly free, independent and dignified.
