Karakaçi; We will not intervene in the conflict between Pacolli and Adem,

Minister of Infrastructure, Enea Karakaçi, stated that the government will not intervene in the conflicts between the two partners of the Vlora airport, but warned of penalties for the delay.

"The Ministry expresses deep concern that the behavior of the developer so far, the conflicts between the parties, and the contractual violations have caused delays. This will not be tolerated and there will be penalties. The Ministry is not a party to the conflict and has no interest in favoring any party, but we will take measures and intervene through the contract clauses to open as soon as possible," said Karakaçi.

The head of infrastructure did not rule out the termination of the concession contract due to the concessionaire's failure to meet deadlines.

"Regarding the clauses, as I emphasized, the Vlora airport is among the most important works of the last decade. Airports are not built every year, not even in the world. The airport is not yet operational and the clauses foresee the imposition of penalties, which will continue to be determined according to the contracts. A plan will then be drawn up regarding the postponement or even termination of the concession contract.

The conflict between two shareholders at Vlora Airport, Behgjet Pacolli and Valon Ademi, is holding hostage one of the country's most important infrastructure projects. The airport was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Edi Rama and his former deputy, Balluku, a year ago, exactly three days before last year's elections.

But the political theater quickly ran out of steam when a fight broke out between the two shareholders over quotas. Currently, the airport is in excess of every legal deadline, while it is certain that it will not open for this tourist season either.
