Librazhd road collapse/ Citizens will pay 21.3 million euros for the damage

Albanian citizens will pay more than 21 million euros to stabilize the road landslide in Librazhd. The Albanian Road Authority announced in the public procurement forecast register a tender worth 2.04 billion lek or 21.3 million euros to repair the landslide that isolated the southeast of the country for days.

Although the biggest doubts about the causes of the road collapse are related to the works for the new axis by the ANK company, the government has rushed to charge the cost of the collapse to the citizens. And this is not a small bill, but a full 21.3 million euros.

This time, the blame remained unsettled. Even the authorities were eager from the beginning to blame nature, as all state officials from the director of roads to the prime minister declared that the collapse was related to heavy rainfall.

But exactly in the segment where the road collapsed just a few meters above, the ANK company, which is working on the construction of the new segment of Corridor 8, had used a gabion wall to block a natural water discharge valve at that location. This is suspected to have loaded the hill, leading to its landslide and the collapse of the road.

However, those who are suspected of being the cause of all this, not only do not pay the bill, but they also make a profit. A few months ago, the ANK company received another 1 million euros from the budget for the emergency stabilization of the collapsed segment in Dragostunje.

Now citizens will pay another 21.3 million euros, which will be recovered again by the ANK or its equivalent, which receives public funds to repair the damage they themselves and their designers cause.
