The Albanian Power Corporation has announced a tender for the purchase of 15 thousand tons of fuel, which will serve for the production of energy from the 2 floating TECs in Vlora. The tender will take place on September 15 and according to the specifications in the documents published by KESH, it is required that the fuel be of the HFO type, with a sulfur content not exceeding 0.5%.
Meanwhile, after receiving offers from interested companies, KESH intends to sign the contract, while the delivery of the fuel will take place at the Petrolifera Italo-Albanian terminal.
This year, the two floating thermal power plants anchored in the Bay of Vlora have been working continuously, producing significant amounts of energy, as the country is facing a difficult water situation due to the long drought, which has brought energy reserves to historic lows.
The floating TPPs were positioned in the Port of Triport in September 2022, following a procedure undertaken in the context of the energy crisis, but for more than 2 and a half years they did not produce a single kilowatt hour of energy.
