Once known as the village of light, Fierza is today immersed in the darkness of oblivion.
Its residents, who have been away for more than 50 years, have never turned their backs on the memory of their birthplace. Every summer, they return to keep Fierza alive, under the umbrella of festive activities that preserve its identity and history.
"I am one of the first to move from the village. I am one of the first to return to invest even a little. If we don't know where we came from, we don't know where we are going. I have an extraordinary passion for my hometown. This meeting serves to bring people closer, to get to know each other better in my hometown. It has been 35 years since I left the village of Fierza, and I also feel an extraordinary pleasure when I come here and see my fellow villagers," says a resident.
The few residents who live in Fierza have brought their own water and electricity. For them, the biggest challenge remains the road connecting the hydroelectric power plant to the center of Fierza, which if paved would pave the way for investments, especially in the area's historic towers, a valuable asset waiting to be restored.
"The road is in pieces, even if a road is repaired, it will be a very short distance. If it is done, there will be greater activities. The development of the village, new constructions, people will come more willingly," the residents say.
In the past, Fierza had about 500 inhabitants, today only 50 live there.
