Expropriations for the new port of Durres cost 8.2 million euros

The government will pay 815 million lek or 8.2 million euros to expropriate private owners whose land is being taken for the construction of the new port in Porto Romano. The Council of Ministers has approved the expropriation fund and the relevant procedures at its last meeting.

"The total value of the expropriation, of 815.7 million lek, is borne by the Durrës Port Authority," the government decision states.

Real estate owners are compensated, for the purpose of expropriation, after submitting the supporting documentation for liquidation to the Durres Port Authority.

At the time of execution of the liquidation procedures for each property, updated ownership documentation will be required for each owner, confirmed by the competent institution, the State Cadastre Agency, in order to verify the relevant restrictions carried by the property cards, on the basis of which the execution procedure will be assessed and carried out, and in the event that the property is in legal proceedings, the measure of reward or compensation will be made available to the person resulting from the final court decision.

The State Cadastral Agency is ordered to suspend all transactions with the expropriated assets until the completion of the process of laying the project footprint on the cadastral map and registers the deed of transfer of ownership in favor of the Durrës Port Authority for the expropriated assets.
