Digital Albania collapsed again this Friday as the vast majority of the most important public websites went down one after the other. The website of the Public Procurement Agency, INSTAT, the National Business Center, the Procurement Commission, the Competition Authority and many others are currently inaccessible, although there is still no official information about the next collapse of the digital state, whether we are dealing with a temporary defect or a more serious problem.
The collapse of the largest public websites comes just hours after the appointment of Igli Tafaj as head of the National Agency for the Information Society, after the prime minister decided to dismiss the arrested former director Mirlinda Karçanaj.
Digital Albania has become a nightmare for businesses and the national economy, following the SPAK action on AKSHI. Many of the main websites are not working, making it impossible for businesses and citizens to fulfill their legal obligations, especially those in the field of taxes. This situation has also raised major concerns about national security.
A few days ago, the US Chamber of Commerce stated that the collapse of digital systems is jeopardizing national security.
