Former Finance Minister: Wizzair is a predatory company that extorts citizens

Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, has made strong accusations against the airline Wizzair for abuse and lack of transparency with ticket prices.

Through a post on social media, Malaj lists some of the fees that, according to him, are being used as punitive mechanisms against travelers and are significantly increasing the real cost of travel.

According to him, the hidden costs applied by Wizzair significantly increase the real price of tickets from what is told to citizens.

Malaj underlines that online services, in cases where the company has physical counters at the airport, should be an alternative option and not a means of financial penalty for travelers.

In addition to check-in costs, Wizz Air applies a fee of up to 80 euros for an additional suitcase weighing up to 20 kilograms, which according to Malaj is disproportionate and in many cases higher than the ticket price itself.

According to the former minister, these additional costs increase the real price of the ticket by 35 to 60 percent, deceiving the consumer at the time of purchase and creating a false perception of the final price of the trip.

Due to these abusive practices, Malaj has also denounced the passivity of state authorities that should protect consumers from the dishonest and predatory practices of companies.
