The Tax Investigation Directorate, in cooperation with the Verification and Field Coordination Directorate, has continued inspections in Vlora and Saranda, following the action to verify the salaries of employees in the construction sector, but also apartment sales contracts from real estate agencies.
From the action in these two cities, registered real estate agencies and construction companies have been identified, which operate with a single nephew.
Tax evasion has been in significant amounts by these entities.
Other violations have been observed with the failure to declare construction workers in the tax system.
Also, computer units with computer data were seized, which were subjected to specialized analysis.
As of January 16, the General Directorate of Taxes has begun field inspections.
The checks will include entities that have not respected the floor salaries set by taxes as of December 1, 2025. Due to the declaration of lower salaries than they actually are, taxes last month published the salary list for the construction sector, depending on each profession.
With the exception of sanitation workers who will have a minimum wage of 60,000 lek, all other employees must not declare a salary below 80,000 lek. With this list of taxes, the minimum wage in construction automatically increases the average salary in the sector from 68,000 lek to 85,000 lek. Any business that does not comply with this tax decision will be considered at risk of under-declaration and will be subject to audits.
Tax investigations in this sector have also extended to the sale of apartments, including prepayments if accompanied by regular transaction invoices, to the accompanying of goods with invoices or the accurate declaration of premises rental contracts.
