The association representing real estate agencies, NAREA, reacted sharply to the Tax Administration's inspections and the news disseminated by the latter. Through a press release distributed to the media, NAREA said that it is following with concern the situation created by the way the Tax Administration is exercising inspections and the false information that is being disseminated publicly.

"We condemn at all costs the demonization of an entire sector, which offers business opportunities to around 1,500 agents who mainly generate income for themselves and their families through self-employment. Professionals, who as a result of the search for artificial sensational news and the search for clicks at all costs, today suffer the consequences of this denigrating campaign," declared NAREA.

The association emphasized that it has regularly communicated with central government and financial intelligence institutions regarding the challenges of the Real Estate industry and the Real Estate Brokerage Profession.

"The uncertainty resulting from the climate created during the exercise of controls, coupled with media coverage without waiting for the draft reports and their results, this campaign itself, negatively affects the public's perception of the agent's role and duties, damages his image, the spirit of cooperation and makes it impossible for Licensed Real Estate Brokers to play the role of the first guarantor in the chain of transactions," said NAREA.

Two days ago, Taxes distributed an official announcement to the media about inspections carried out at 9 real estate agencies, where, according to the administration, serious violations of the law were found, including evasion with the sale price of properties.
