Former President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçe, Faculty of Economics lecturer Matilda Shehu and expert Selami Xhepa are the three self-proclaimed candidates to become part of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, who have also received the support of the Socialist Party parliamentary group. A2 CNN learns that the decision was made at the meeting of the SP group this Monday.
This selection leaves out Luljeta Minxhozi, who is seeking re-election as a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania. Minxhozi was appointed a member in 2018, and has also held the position of First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania.
There are currently 6 vacancies in the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, but the Parliament has announced 3 vacancies, while 3 proposals for the other vacancies will be made by the government.
For the 3 vacancies of the Assembly, 20 candidates offered themselves, of which only three were selected. While the government has so far proposed former Minister of Finance Ervin Mete and Jonida Prifti who comes from the banking sector. There is still one candidate to be proposed by the government, who will then be approved in the Assembly.
