The government declares the failure to realize expenditures a success, 167 million euros are deposited in the Pension Fund

The government revealed that it has deposited 167 million euros in the Special Pension Fund. This money was programmed to be spent in the 2025 budget, but due to the non-realization of expenditures, the government decided to transfer the funds to a special account created at the Bank of Albania, which will finance the increase in pensions.

According to the Ministry, the transfer of these funds represents a kept promise and a clear commitment to improve the pension system, ensuring long-term stability and responsible management of public finances.

The Pension Reform will continue to be implemented with determination, with the aim of building a fairer, more sustainable and more reliable system for every citizen. The transfer of these budget funds was carried out in accordance with Normative Act No. 11, dated 19.12.2025, as well as in accordance with the legal framework for the management of the budget system.

This is a concrete step towards strengthening the financial sustainability of the pension system and guaranteeing fairer and more secure support for pensioners, the Ministry of Finance states.
