The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has intensified investigations into the suspended Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku.

Media sources indicate that prosecutors are conducting a property investigation into Balluku, while a series of letters have also been addressed to banks for information on her assets. According to reports, some information has been obtained from second-tier banks and information has been requested from ILKPDI.

Balluku has been named a defendant by SPAK for the tender for the Llogara tunnel, while it is being investigated for several tenders regarding the Grand Ring Road and the Thumanë-Kashar axis.

She has been suspended from duty by decision of the GJKKO, while the Mandates Council is expected to meet on February 23 to discuss her immunity.

At the meeting, according to sources, SPAK is expected to present new evidence against Balluk, while requesting that the meeting be closed.

It remains to be seen how the process against her, which has dragged on since last year, will continue, where, on the orders of Edi Rama, the Socialists have tried to give as much time as possible to the government's number two.
