The government officially announces the failure of incinerators/ Tenders open

The Albanian government has officially declared the incinerators a total failure. After burning 60 million euros of Albanian citizens' money to build the Elbasan and Fier incinerators, the government has today decided to abandon them by announcing a tender for the design of a new waste management solution in the cities of Fier and Elbasan.

The tender with a fund limit of 660 thousand euros was announced by the Centralized Purchasing Operator and has as its object the design of the Integrated Waste Management Infrastructure in the Fier and Elbasan Waste Areas, precisely in the two cities where the incinerators have been built.

According to documents consulted by Kapital, the selected winning company must design the expansion of existing waste landfills in Elbasan and Fier, which were designed small because the waste would supposedly be burned by incinerators.

In addition to expanding existing landfills, the company is tasked with designing the construction of new landfills, Inert Waste Plants, Materials Recovery Plants, and so on.

In short, the government is finally putting the costly incinerators, which have not worked for a single day, out of action, by asking Albanian citizens, after paying 60 million euros to throw them in the trash, to pay tens of millions more euros, now for the construction of landfills, to hold the garbage of Elbasan and Fier.
