From January 1, 2026, all entities connected to 6 kilovolt (kV) voltage will have the opportunity to be supplied in the free electricity market, an important step in the process of liberalizing the energy market in Albania.
The Administrator of the Free Market Supplier (FTL), Albi Gjenerali, during the panel "Smart Buildings & Free Market: Driving Energy Efficiency and Modern Design", which took place within the framework of the "Energy, Construction and Green Economy Fair 2025" at the Palace of Congresses, in Tirana, emphasized that this change will include around 2300 businesses connected to this voltage level, which will gain the right to choose their own energy supplier.
He expressed his confidence that the majority of these clients will choose FTL, part of OSHEE Group, due to the stability that the company offers in price and quality of service.
"In our current portfolio, we have about 4,000 customers in the 35, 20 and 10 kV network, and we expect that most of the 2,300 new customers will join FTL, because we guarantee them a stable price throughout their supply year," he stated, emphasizing that this policy helps businesses better plan economic and financial aspects.
FTL currently covers about 80% of the free energy supply market in the country and is among the main actors in this transformation process.
After the transition of customers connected to 35 kV, 20 kV and most recently 10 kV voltages to the free market, the next phase will include 6 kV customers.
