Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the Fiscal Peace Agreement will begin implementation in 2026, but by then the successful drafting of this package must be ensured. During a meeting with financial experts, the head of government added that this new chapter in relations with business will increase revenues for the state budget and reduce informality.
"It is very important that the fiscal peace is drafted and successfully concluded in conceptual terms by the end of this year so that next year we can begin its implementation. I am very confident that if the fiscal peace is conceived and planned properly, it will be a very positive message for entrepreneurship, but I believe it will also be able to increase revenues for the state budget, while the key point remains the increase in overall performance and the reduction of informality," declared the Prime Minister.
The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, stated that through initiatives of this nature, sustainable economic development will be guaranteed.
"Our goal is clear and ambitious, through the combination of sound fiscal and monetary policies, deep structural reforms and strategic investments, the Albanian economy will guarantee a new trajectory of sustainable economic development," said Malaj.
Tax liabilities older than 10 years will be forgiven and a new scheme for repaying debts of the last 10 years with reduced percentages will be implemented through the “Fiscal Peace” 2026–2029. This will open a new chapter of cooperation with Albanian entrepreneurship through multi-year tax relief agreements and the encouragement of regular declarations.
According to the government, fiscal peace will be an agreement between the Tax Administration and businesses generated with the help of Artificial Intelligence, which avoids tax audits, improves the business climate, but on the other hand guarantees the collection of tax obligations.
