17 million euro transaction, Enver Mehmeti buys 40% of the shares of Premier

Businessman Enver Mehmeti has purchased 40 percent of the shares of Premier Group, a company operating in the field of hotel and tourism, from his two partners. The transaction, worth 17.1 million euros, was financed entirely by the American Investment Bank, which, to guarantee its loan, has entered into a 10 percent shareholdership in the company.

Premier Group was owned 40 percent by Enver Mehmeti, 20 percent by Agim Mehmeti, 20 percent by Skender Hysenaj and another 20 percent by Arben Mecaj. In April of this year, Enver Mehmeti sold 10 percent of his shares in Premier to the American Investment Bank at a book value of 360 thousand euros.

ABI's involvement in Premier was in fact the beginning of a complex financial operation. The American bank would finance a loan of over 15 million euros to Mehmeti in order for him to buy the shares from his two partners, Meçaj and Hysenaj, and the involvement as an owner was the bank's guarantee to get the loan back.

Ten days after the formal sale of the shares to ABI, Mehmeti signed conditional contracts for the purchase of 40 percent of the shares owned by his two partners for a value of 17.1 million euros. After signing the conditional contracts, 70 percent of the shares that businessman Mehmeti already owned were placed as collateral with ABI Bank for the 15 million euro loan that the bank gave Mehmeti to finance the purchase of the shares from his partners.

According to the documents, 20 percent of Skënder Hysenaj's shares were purchased for 8.1 million euros, while Meçaj's 20 percent was purchased by Mehmeti for 9 million euros. The price per share in these two transactions is 12.5 times higher than the purchase price from ABI Bank.

Following these transactions, the ownership structure of Premier Group consists of three partners. 70 percent of the shares are owned by Enver Mehmeti, 20 percent by Agim Mehmeti, and 10 percent by the American Investment Bank.

Premier Group operates in the field of hotels and tourism. It owns the Premium Beach Hotel in Kryemëdhenj, Kavajë, a hotel that is advertised as 5 stars.

Enver Mehmeti is a well-known businessman who owns several companies in the tourism sector, including Vas Group. A few years ago, the businessman was involved in a scandal, as he was reported to the prosecutor's office by journalist Rudina Xhunga for threats.

Xhunga filed a complaint with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, publicly explaining that the conflict with the owner of the travel agency came after an article in which she described the "holiday hell" she had booked with Mehmeti.
