Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku opposed the fiscal package in the Economy Committee, especially the drafts of the Fiscal Peace, which forgive over 1 billion euros in debts for evasive businesses. Tabaku asked the government to show who the biggest beneficiaries of the fiscal peace are and demanded the exclusion from this debt forgiveness of all businesses that are subjects of SPAK.
"Who is the list of beneficiaries of fiscal peace? We need to know who are the beneficiaries of this fiscal amnesty. Do those who receive tenders benefit? Should no SPAK entity benefit from the amnesty? Is the tax administration capable of implementing profit negotiation? Will citizens be discouraged by this amnesty?" Tabaku said in the Parliamentary Committee.
The Fiscal Peace drafts, in addition to automatically forgiving unpaid obligations by businesses until December 2014 and up to 50 percent of the obligations 2015-2019, allow businesses to pay a reduced tax of 5 percent on profits if they declare profit growth above 18 percent. This initiative was opposed by the International Monetary Fund, which stated that the amnesty undermines fiscal justice and encourages tax evasion.
