Croatia has blocked a shipment of peaches from Albania after the fruit was found to be contaminated with nickel, the news was confirmed on the European Commission's Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF) website.
The case description states that the fruit had “high nickel content” and “pose a potential risk” to consumers. It is not yet known whether the shipment will be returned or which company exported the peaches from Albania to Croatia.
We recall that the only EU country, Croatia, blocked a shipment of peppers from Albania in April after they were found to contain pesticides.
