The fire, which started in the Dhivri area, entered the Blue Eye Natural Park on its seventh day. The fire then traveled a path of destruction through the villages of Pecë, Kardhikaq and Sirakat, then entered Delvinë and spread to the vicinity of Varfaj. The flames also included Kokodhiqin, Lefterhori and every suburb of the city, causing extensive damage to many houses, olive groves, vineyards, fruit trees, agriculture, livestock, beekeeping and the environment.
The damage to the territory of Delvina is severe: over 40 km² of land destroyed. Thousands of young and perennial olive trees, fruit trees and entire hectares of vineyards have been burned. For many families, these crops represented the main source of income, and their loss means years without production and income. The damage to the forests is also extensive. In Delvina, the entire pine crown was burned, while in Lefterhor the chestnut forest was burned.
Entire olive groves have disappeared, fruit trees have been reduced to ashes, and vineyards, which for years have yielded quality produce, have been destroyed. The economic losses are incalculable, and full recovery will require a lot of time and investment.
In addition to the economic damage, the fire has also severely affected the area's greenery and biodiversity. The scorched lands are at risk of erosion, while the loss of greenery will have long-term consequences for the climate and wildlife.
