Danish architect Bjarke Ingels' BIG studio was announced the winner of the international competition to design the "Faith Park", a project that aims to unite modern architecture with the spirit of interfaith harmony in the Albanian capital.
The competition was attended by 12 finalists from various countries such as the United Kingdom, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, bringing creative ideas and different concepts for this project of symbolic importance.
During the winner announcement ceremony, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized the importance of this project for Albania and the challenges of the selection process.
"It was a process from which we all learned. There were many ideas to discuss and detailed analyses for each project. In the end, the selection was difficult, because all the finalists had brought extraordinary proposals," said Rama.
He added that the decision on the winner was made with complete conviction, emphasizing:
"I wish we had the opportunity to build more parks like this. However, this project is an achievement that we will be very proud of as a country."
Bjarke Ingels' project is expected to bring to Tirana a unique space where culture, beliefs and art come together in a modern and sustainable environment, reflecting the diversity and unity of Albanian society.
