Tourism in Albania has seen an overall increase during July 2025, but INSTAT data shows another reality for visitors from Italy.
Unlike the last two years, when Italians constituted one of the fastest growing groups of tourists in the country, this season their presence has dropped significantly.
According to official statistics, Italy accounts for only 10% of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in tourist structures, after Kosovo (21%) and Poland (11%).
At the same time, Germany and France have marked an upward trend, surpassing the level of Italian visitors.

Tour operators and experts in the sector emphasize that the decline in Italians is related to the high prices of this season, as well as the still weak infrastructure, which is unable to cope with the increased influx of vacationers. This situation seems to have diminished interest in one of the most important markets for Albanian tourism.
However, overall, Albania recorded a 34.6% increase in visitors and 33.5% in overnight stays in July 2025 compared to a year earlier. The main beneficiary of this growth remains the coastal areas, where foreign visitors increased by over 50%.

The decline of Italians is seen as an alarm signal for the sector, indicating that the overall growth of tourism may be hidden behind structural problems that affect the reliability of traditional markets for Albania.
