The Armed Forces of Albania will be dressed in 'Made in Albania' products. 'Guna Tactical' is the joint-stock company where 51% of the shares will be owned by KAYO that will produce all clothing and accessories for the Armed Forces.
The Joint Stock Company was registered with the National Business Center on August 8 and will have only one shareholder 'MSSC', which will hold 49% of the shares.
“Founding Shareholders: The founding shareholders own the shares as follows: • “KAYO” Sh.A -1,785 shares (51% of the capital); • “MSSC” Sh.PK -1,715 shares (49% of the capital)”, states the company's statute.
This company states in its registration documents with the Central Bank that it will produce all the clothing of the Armed Forces.
"Object of activity: Design, production, processing, storage, packaging, promotion, distribution, trade and export of military uniforms and accessories for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, as well as for other security structures and other local or international clients," the company's registration documents with the Central Bureau of Investigation state.
This company will not only supply clothing to the armed forces in the country, but will also have the right to inspect military clothing abroad.
The manufacturing sector itself recently asked the government to cooperate with this industry so that they could produce clothing for the military.
"Recently, as a result of geopolitical developments and the objective of NATO member states to invest about 5% of GDP in defense, interest in the production of military items (clothing and footwear) in Albania has increased significantly. This is a positive opportunity for our sector, thanks to the experience created over the years, proximity to European markets and high production capacity. With a proper strategy and cooperation with the government, Albania can become a regional hub for the production of military items. At the same time, this would enable the manufacturing industry to enter into new, more favorable contracts and mitigate the impact of the unfavorable exchange rate," the Pro Export Albania association had declared.
Since it is now a fact that clothing and other items will be produced locally, the garment industry is one of the main beneficiaries as it may have the opportunity to take on work as a subcontractor.
