Dozens of Bankers Petroleum employees protested today in front of the company's offices in Marinëz, supported by the Hydrocarbons Sector Union, demanding a salary increase and improved working conditions. The protest took place during the break, while the union warned of a hunger strike and suspension of activity if the demands are not taken into account.
In a strong public statement, the union president called on company leaders to stop ignoring the voices of employees. He highlighted some of the main demands:
Salary increase
Respect for workers' rights
Implementation of the collective labor agreement
Ending intimidation and psychological pressure on employees
Equal treatment and non-discrimination
Implementation of oilman status
Improving working conditions in the field
"We are not asking for alms, but social justice"
The Secretary of the Union stated that the employees' demands are fair and in accordance with the law and the collective agreement. "We are not asking for alms, but social justice. We have been ignored for years," he said.
The workers accused the company of systematically refusing to address demands for a pay increase, stressing that current conditions are inadequate and highly dangerous.
Organizers warned that, if concrete measures are not taken by the company, the protest will escalate into a hunger strike and production disruption.
