A 102 megawatt photovoltaic park in Mbreshtan, Kolonjë, and another with a capacity of 50 megawatts in Vërnik, Korcë, are the two latest solar energy projects to receive government approval. The Council of Ministers approved the permits for the two projects, which will be built by two Albanian companies, at its last meeting.
The first project, the 102 megawatt photovoltaic park in Kolonjë, will be built by the company Tekno Fire shpk, owned by businessman Alban Çejku. According to the government decision, the deadline for the construction and commissioning of the plant is 36 months, while the company will have the right to use it for 49 years.
Meanwhile, the second park, the one with a capacity of 50 megawatts, will be built by Vasil Jovan's Kronos Konstruksion company. This work will also have the same completion deadline of 36 months, while the private sector will have the right to use it for 49 years.
Albania is massively approving permits for the construction of renewable energy sources, especially solar. But recently, some early entrants to this market have been investing in batteries for energy storage due to unfavorable prices of this product during solar production hours.
