The Albanian government will spend 179.6 billion lek or over 1.85 billion euros next year on public investments. The budget tables show that public investments are expected to reach an all-time high next year in value, but also one of the highest historical levels in relative weight to Gross Domestic Product.
According to the draft budget, public investments for the coming year will amount to 6.5 percent of GDP, of which 4.6 percent are domestically financed, while the rest are foreign-financed projects.
But which projects are getting the lion's share of the investment fund planned for next year?
According to detailed tables, 53 million will go to pay for concessionary road construction contracts. This includes payments for the construction of the Arbri road, the Orikum-Dukat road, and the Milot-Morinë road subsidy.
In terms of direct investments from the budget, the largest chunk goes to the Elbasan-Lekaj road, which will receive around 45 million euros. The second project with the largest funding is the expansion of the Elbasan-Qafë Thanë road, which will receive over 30 million euros.
Kashar Vaqarr receives 20 million euros, the same amount as the expansion of the Tirana-Durrës highway.
Meanwhile, water supply received around 120 million euros, while the rest of the investment is distributed to all other ministries and agencies.
